Overview: The Aspen Music Festival and School is more than just a music event; it's also one of the world's most established training grounds for young musicians.
Where: The Aspen Music School
Fees: Most events are free but some events do vary in price.
Details: The festival takes place in the summer, and is made up of hundreds of events. Musicians from around the world participate in orchestral concerts, chamber music, opera, contemporary music, master classes, lectures, and kids' programs.
Each day you can watch a concert at the Benedict Music Tent, which seats about 2,000 people. This modern structure first appeared at the festival in 2000. Concerts are also held at the Victorian Wheeler Opera House, the Harris Concert Hall, and in churches and smaller halls in the area. There are tons of free events as well, however, some tickets must be purchased.
Elizabeth and Walter Paepcke of Chicago established the Festival and School based on the idea that a combination of art and nature is what cultivates the growth of the human spirit. Their dream continues on today.
